CHINESE CERAMIC HORSE - Replica of Ancient Tang Dynasty Sculpture - Price: $80 in Modesto, California

Beautiful, very authentic looking replica of a Tang Dynasty (618 to 907 AD) ceramic horse. Ceramic horse sculptures were placed in the tombs of Chinese emperors to assure that they would have horses to accompany them in the afterlife. This replica was made by Chinese craftsmen who press clay into a mold which was made from an authentic Tang era horse sculpture. Glazes applied by master craftsmen and kiln fired resulting in a horse sculpture that looks very similar to an authentic Tang era artwork.
An authentic ancient Tang Dynasty horse sculpture would be sold for thousands of dollars at auction. Size: 15 inches high.
